Dr. Greenberg Article
We have been given permission by Dr. Maurice Greenberg BSc MPhil MRCP, FRCPsych Consultant Psychiatrist and Honorary Senior Lecturer Camden & Islington and Head of Student Counselling Service UCL in the U.K., to print his paper on ”Post Adoption Reunion- Are We Entering Uncharted Territory?”
This was a lecture presented to the British Association of Adoption and Fostering on 5th October, 1993. I am very grateful to Dr. Greenberg for his interest in Genetic Sexual Attraction and the case study that he did on this subject. I hope you will find his work and his article helpful in your education of GSA. Barbara Gonyo |

Hi Eveyrone
I spoke to Barbara and she gave me the OK to post on the site. I am a UK journalist doing a story on GSA. My national union of journalist number is NUJ 937 491. I would like to talk to a couple who are involved with each other - brother and sister, brother/sister and half sibling. The article would be published in a UK magazine. I can change your name and age and location and we offer a fee of between $500-1000usd for your story. You would need to be interviewed and photographed - we can change your look and photograph you in a way in which you won't be identified and talk about your relationship in a way which will educate others. My email is [email protected] my phone number is +44 7747 825 884 PLEASE HELP ME EDUCATE OTHERS IN A PROFESSIONAL WAY AND NOTE I CHECKED WITH BARBARA FIRST BEFORE POSTING. Thanks in advance and respect Alley |

cutting edge and Dr Greenberg
Hello from Scotland,
Until recently, I had no idea that GSA existed and my heart goes out to those that find themselves in this situation. I watched the UK, channel 4, Cutting Edge documentary: Sleeping With My Sister (if you want to see it, find it on 66stage.com under documentaries - veoh but you have to download veoh's viewer from 66stage to watch more than 5 mins of it). It was originally aired here in March 2008 and there is a forum for comments on the Cutting Edge website. It dealt with a Scottish couple and an American couple, both siblings, and followed their lives for 9 months. I was surprised when I saw that the Scottish couple came from Fife, where I grew up, and even more surprised when I recognised the sister and realised that I knew their mother, at least to look at. It brought things very close to home and I was extremely angry at the treatment these brave people received. GSA was mentioned but wasn't really explained, so I googled it and came here for more information. I have just finished reading Dr Greenberg's article and must say that it makes so much sense to me that it makes me wonder why it doesn't happen in every case in which close family are reunited. There is just so much that has been missed, not least the shared developement of feelings and behaviours that are hardwired into our brains. Both as a nurse and personally, I know that young siblings very often go through a stage in which they explore sexual behaviour with each other before reaching puberty. And in my experience, during puberty, say around 13to 16, there seems to be a great deal of flirting that goes on towards the opposite sex parent. It is practice behaviour, even animals do it. It is part of our genetic make-up that we go through these stages with our families and no wonder loving gets confused if all this has been missed. I'm fully aware that none of this helps when you are deeply in love with someone society regards as taboo. I understand that these feelings and desires are as real as it gets, but thanks to some brave people (Barb take a bow!) news and hopefully understanding is reaching the rest of us. In the UK, I see that our newspapers (and not just the sensationalist tabloids) have been buzzing with articles on GSA since the Scottish couple in the cutting edge documentary came forward, and I for one, will be doing my best to raise awareness. My very best to you all. |
